Is the $95 on top of the repair?

No. The $95 covers the visit and the full diagnosis, and if you approve the repair it comes off the bill in full. If you decide not to go ahead, that is what you have paid and there is nothing further.

Do you work on the oven and the refrigerator on the same visit?

Where the diagnosis and the parts allow, yes. A Newton kitchen fitted out in one make usually has two or three things that have been quietly annoying somebody, and it is far cheaper to look at them together than to book two visits.

My range is twenty-odd years old. Can it still be repaired?

Usually. The professional ranges are heavy mechanical things and the parts that fail — igniters, spark modules, valves, thermostats, hinges — are the ones still most widely supplied. What ends a repair is rarely age; it is a cracked cast top or a cabinet that has been through a fire.

The oven door locked itself after a self-clean and will not release.

Very common, and it is normally the lock motor or its switch rather than the door itself. Leave it alone once the cavity is cold; forcing the latch is how a straightforward part becomes a bent door and a new hinge pair.

The dishwasher controls are along the top edge of the door and nothing responds.

On panel-ready machines that strip is a membrane over a small board, and the ribbon behind it is the usual culprit — especially where steam has been escaping past a tired door seal for a year or two. It is a contained repair when it is caught early.

Which parts of Newton do you cover?

All of it, and the four villages listed on this site are simply where the calls cluster. If your street is not named, it is almost certainly still a normal run — the villages are not a boundary.

  • Cold patch on the left of the griddle and a lazy burner beneath it. A blocked orifice and a warped plate. He cleaned one, replaced the other, and it browns evenly again.

  • Water on the floor, but only after a heavy load. He traced it to the seal at the bottom corner of the door and a lower rack sitting proud and deflecting spray. Small fix, and he dried out the cabinet base.

  • The compressor ran constantly and the wall behind the unit was warm to touch. The condenser was matted with dust from a renovation two doors along. Cleaned, plus a new condenser fan, and it cycles normally.
